With a new set of Michelin Pilot Supersports to keep company until they get mounted in the spring.

Winter storage makes the heart grow fonder.

Bonus points for identifying the "new car" in the box behind the mower.

Maybe that car will start to appreciate in value if you keep it long enough. Still, it's so badass.

With the car in storage, is the battery tender now necessary?

Ding, Ding. They just released a 30th anniversary edition I had to pickup. I had an original right as they came out. Parents said I would sleep in it. Gave it to my cousins when I outgrew it...who destroyed it. Wish I still had the original. My love of cars started early.

The Pilot?

Also, I may be a little late to the party but what is under the wrap? I think I know what it is but don't want to embarrass myself.

Shhhhh, I'll have to change it to "Battery Tender Unnecessary...except when there's a layer of salt/brine on the road"

Pilot Supersports in time for the winter? Are you in Australia? :p

Why not just get some snow tires? :)

Nice Pilot. Why would Michelin name its performance tires after a bloated Accord wagon? hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Is there a Sharkruiser in the box?

Lil Tykes for your 'lil tyke!

The PSS are such great tires - looking forward to getting my car back on them in a few months, but will be glad for my winter set these next few days...

Off topic:

I had no idea how crazy the rear aero of your upcoming i8 looked before I saw this picture in Automobile...

I think he means that he'll use them next year. It's doubtful that he'd drive the SLS (looks like it) during the winter.

Yeah, washing under the "flying buttresses" is going to be interesting. It looks like what my 10 year old self thought cars would look like in 2015. Dealer still saying they've been told to expect March/April delivery. Car and Driver recently found the worldwide total for the first year is around 1900 or less (depending on component yields on the more specialized drivetrain parts) with less than 500 to the US.

The AMG on the bonnet of the cover gives it away. That and those sumptuous hips.

I plan on keeping it long enough for that to probably happen. The number of large displacement, naturally aspirated super-sports cars you can buy new is rapidly declining.

Ill never understand why people put their cars away for winter.....tomorrow and friday in NYC its going to be 61 degrees. Perfect driving weather if you can avoid the rain.

1. Get a one of 500 first model year "future car".
2. Drive it like you stole it for 3 months.
3. Sell it.
4. PROFIT!

Because they can.

If I had an option, here in Oklahoma, I would still probably try to drive my nice car most days, but I can completely see why people in the north put them away for a few months. Sand, salt and grimy slush are hell on a car.

That said, I proudly daily drive my E90 M3 all year. See those rock chips? That's patina , son.

Not to actually use (I'm 6'1" and don't fit). More to keep for my first kid...at some far future date. And mainly because they were half off a week ago.

But when that far, future kid finally comes, you're going to have so much fun playing with Hot Wheels, LEGO, etc. I know I have been!

I never would've known a man with an SLS would also have a Pilot. It's not bad or anything, it's just I would've expected something like a matte black Range Rover Sport haha.

Yeah. I've agreed in writing to pay sticker but crazy stories of guys committing to $80k over in CA. If that ends up being the case, I see some east coast buyers making enough to pay for nearly half of a 2016 model year.

That and Virginia has some of the worst restraint when it comes to salting the road. Night before the day before Thanksgiving there was a chance of icy rain/sleet. By morning the road was white, not from ice and snow, just the salt. Rode with my sister to Thanksgiving. On the interstate it sounded like we were in a light hailstorm there was so much on the road getting thrown up. If we got a heavy rain that washed the salt away and the temps hit 50s/60s I'd have her back out. But that doesn't appear to be in the cards.

I had one of these as a kid. Always loved tooling around the back yard and driveway looking like Fred Flintstone. I had my sister "drive" one time while I rode on top. She slammed the brakes (read: heels) and I tumbled off the top, smashed my face on the concrete and was left with a pretty sweet scar. Good times.

My god the SLS looks great even under cover.

I was lucky enough to drive an SLS on a track in Vegas. I was amazed at how well it handled with how big it is. And the sound of that V8! Like a Focke Wulf doing a low-pass. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I envy you.

One benefit of daily driving a RWD sports car year-round:

Hooning in an empty parking lot on a fresh layer of sleet.

My drive home from work today was not quite as fun, however.
